Job summary

Costa Barista role located at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury, within the Sodexo team. You will craft exceptional coffee and serve a diverse menu, creating a welcoming environment for patients, staff and visitors with warm, professional conversations.

Permanent contract, 37.5 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 on a rota. Parking on site and uniform provided. Join a supportive team and engage in a busy hospital catering environment with opportunities for development.

Qualifications

• Barista experience and passion for quality coffee.
• Friendly, approachable manner and ability to communicate with diverse customers.
• Positive, team-focused attitude; flexible to support across outlets.
• Good organisation and time management in a busy environment.
• Understanding of food hygiene, health and safety, allergen management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, hot drinks, food and snacks.
• Create a friendly, inclusive, customer-focused environment.
• Maintain Costa brand standards; keep outlet clean, stocked and ready for service.
• Prepare and present food with portion control and FIFO.
• Follow all food hygiene, allergen management and safety checks.
• Work with colleagues to keep service running smoothly and manage shift handovers.
• Operate and clean equipment safely; report hazards promptly.
• Suggest suitable products to customers to support sales.

What you’ll do:

Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, hot drinks, food and snacks, delivering the welcoming Costa experience to patients, visitors and staff.

Create a friendly, inclusive and customer-focused environment, providing excellent service with a smile.

Maintain Costa brand standards, ensuring the outlet is clean, organised, fully stocked and ready for service.

Prepare and present food accurately, following portion control, stock rotation (FIFO) and food safety procedures.

Follow food hygiene, allergen management and food labelling requirements, completing all necessary safety checks and records.

Work closely with colleagues to keep service running smoothly, support other catering areas when needed and ensure effective shift handovers.

Operate and clean equipment safely, maintain high standards of personal hygiene and report any hazards or equipment issues promptly.

Support sales by confidently recommending suitable products and helping customers make informed choices.

What you bring:

• Barista experience and a genuine passion for preparing quality coffee and delivering great customer service.
• A friendly, approachable manner and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of customers and colleagues.
• A positive, team-focused attitude, with the flexibility to support colleagues and work across different catering areas when required.
• Good organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.
• An understanding of food hygiene, health and safety, and the importance of managing food allergens safely.
• A keen eye for detail and pride in maintaining cleanliness, presentation and high service standards.
• A proactive approach to learning, following procedures and taking responsibility for your work.
