Cost Consultant / Senior Cost Engineer / Cost Analyst / Cost Estimator - Defence Consultancy

Salary: £45K-£75K plus benefits including bonus, medical, pension.

Location: Bristol, hybrid role

Our client is a successful professional services and technology partner to global defence, energy, space, maritime, and intelligence & communications programmes.

As a Cost Consultant, you will deliver technical consulting projects within the defence sector, providing detailed data and cost analysis to assist clients in making informed decisions. Responsibilities include supporting procurement decisions, modelling operational performance and sustainment, and conducting historical analysis to derive lessons learned.

Responsibilities for Senior/Principal Cost Engineer/Consultant include:

1. Providing detailed analysis to support key project decisions.
2. Identifying, bidding for, and securing future work within the industry.
3. Building and maintaining client relationships.
4. Developing problem structuring methods and using various tools and techniques, including innovative approaches.
5. Collaborating with customer teams to deliver rapid analysis or working from company offices to plan and execute tasks.

Essential Requirements:

• Proven experience in Cost Engineering or Analysis within a P3M environment.
• Degree or equivalent qualification, plus professional certification (e.g., CCEA, CPCostE, CEng).
• Experience in the defence/military sector.
• Strong knowledge of statistics for parametric modelling, sampling, and risk analysis.
• Logical and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
• Experience analyzing project data (cost/risk/schedule).
• Ability to influence strategic decision-makers and deliver practical solutions.
• Good presentation and written communication skills.
• Dependability, commitment, and enthusiasm for business growth.
• Understanding of military environment, MOD management, approvals, acquisition cycle, and Defence lines of Development.
• Experience in bidding for and winning future work.
• Background in technical consultancy within the MOD sector.

Preferred but not essential:

• Knowledge of statistical software such as R.
• Experience as a cost management consultant in MOD, business, safety programmes, or public sector projects.

Other requirements include existing right to work in the UK and current SC clearance or willingness to undergo security checks. Travel to UK client sites may be required.
