Job Description:

An established business located south of Bradford near the M606 junction is looking to appoint an experienced Cost Accountant/Assistant Accountant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing company as they expand into new sectors. You will have the chance to implement systems and procedures to enhance current processes. Reporting to the Financial Controller and General Manager, you will occasionally travel to their Harrogate office where the FD is based.

Applicants should have experience in engineering, electronics, or manufacturing environments, with good knowledge of Sage 50 and Excel skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all accounting transactions
  • Control inventory valuations and set up new bills of materials and stock codes
  • Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts
  • Publish management accounts on time
  • Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
  • Coordinate with external auditors
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable and process transactions as needed
  • Ensure timely payments to suppliers
  • Assist with quarterly VAT returns and respond to tax queries
  • Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements
  • Report on financial health and liquidity
  • Conduct internal audits of financial transactions and documents
  • Maintain financial data confidentiality and perform database backups as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations, and assist in policy development
Skills Required:
  • Experience as a cost accountant and familiarity with Billing of Materials
  • Stock control accounting experience
  • Sage 50 proficiency
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong data processing and capturing skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • The role is office-based, working 35 hours/week: 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, with an hour for lunch
