About the role

Are you a confident advisor and client handler, ready to lead proactive media relations strategies, mitigate risk, and lead sustainability messaging for a diverse client portfolio? We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about this area and has a drive to grow an already well-established sustainability communications portfolio.

Our Corporate and Sustainability teams work closely on a roster of impressive clients including globally recognized companies and ambitious brands with stories to tell. Demand for our sustainability communications services continues to grow, so we’re looking for a specialist PR Account Director to join our team. Based in our London office, the role collaborates with others across the business, particularly with our reputation, creative, and consumer client teams.

An understanding of the ESG legislative and media landscape is essential, and you will work across various sectors. You’ll devise and execute communication strategies that address the needs of B2B and B2C businesses across renewables, transport, healthcare, property, and FMCG, among others.

What you will be doing:

Client responsibilities

  • Identify decision makers within your clients’ organizations and develop positive relationships as the senior account lead.
  • Provide exceptional client management with clear communication, counsel, and strategic recommendations.
  • Lead a portfolio of client accounts, ensuring delivery on activities and exceeding KPIs, owning strategy and campaign development, ideation, budget management, and contract renewals.
  • Evaluate and demonstrate impact through reporting on meaningful metrics and showcasing value.
  • Find ways to add value beyond daily activities to maintain long-term relationships.

Growth

  • Work towards fee income targets set by leadership, with responsibilities for division growth.
  • Support new business growth, planning for renewals, and demonstrating maintained income.
  • Manage inbound leads, coordinate with sales and marketing, and lead new business campaigns.
  • Identify sectors for growth, conduct research, and collaborate on campaigns with sales & marketing.
  • Develop a sector ownership plan, working towards a Head of Sector role.
  • Attend networking events to develop industry contacts.
  • Support sector account growth and ensure quality and continuity.
  • Manage junior team members, conduct appraisals, and mentor staff.
  • Lead account teams to ensure successful delivery and upward management.
  • Identify and nurture junior talent, supporting their career development.
  • Participate as a mentor in the PHA Accelerate program.

Industry knowledge

  • Leverage existing contacts with journalists, influencers, and key figures.
  • Maintain in-depth industry knowledge to benefit the team.
  • Establish reputation as a strategic thinker and sector expert, representing the agency externally.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices, devising strategies for clients.

Agency responsibilities

  • Participate in agency activities, training, and internal events to foster relationships.
  • Attend role-specific training through the PHA Academy.
  • Contribute to training sessions for junior colleagues.
  • Play a senior role in company initiatives and culture programs.
  • Share ideas for training, opportunities, and initiatives with senior leadership.
  • Assist in planning and delivering training sessions with support from the team.
