Job summary

Pathway Academy Zone in North Northamptonshire is seeking a Core Subject Tutor to deliver English, Maths and Science to KS3/KS4 learners who may face barriers to engagement. You will work in small groups and 1:1 settings, shaping a broader curriculum and contributing to personal development and real-life readiness.

You will join a pioneering new school with strong leadership, a calm, adaptive approach, and opportunities to influence curriculum design and CPD.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people, ideally within alternative provision or similar settings.
• Ability to deliver English, Maths and Science to KS3/KS4 level.
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
• Teaching qualification or relevant subject-based degree.
• Desirable: SEN or SEMH experience; Team Teach or equivalent training.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging sessions across English, Maths and Science (KS3/KS4).
• Support delivery of wider curriculum areas including PSHE, RSHE, Humanities, RE and PE.
• Adapting teaching approaches to suit individual learning needs.
• Working closely with learners with SEMH and additional needs.
• Building strong relationships to improve behaviour and engagement.
• Monitoring progress and maintaining clear, accurate records.
• Supporting learners towards positive outcomes and progression.

We are looking for a Core Subject Tutor who can deliver English, Maths and Science, while also contributing to a broader curriculum that supports personal development and real-life readiness. You will work with small groups and on a 1:1 basis, helping learners who may have faced barriers in mainstream education to re-engage and progress.

What You Will Be Doing

• Delivering engaging sessions across English, Maths and Science (KS3/KS4)
• Supporting delivery of wider curriculum areas including PSHE, RSHE, Humanities, RE and PE
• Adapting teaching approaches to suit individual learning needs
• Working closely with learners with SEMH and additional needs
• Building strong relationships to improve behaviour and engagement
• Monitoring progress and maintaining clear, accurate records
• Supporting learners towards positive outcomes and progression

What We Are Looking For

• Experience working with young people, ideally within alternative provision or similar settings
• Confidence delivering core subjects at KS3/KS4 level
• Ability to engage learners who may be disengaged from education
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills
• A calm, resilient and adaptable approach
• Teaching qualification or relevant subject-based degree

Desirable

• Experience with SEN or SEMH learners
• Background in alternative provision or PRU settings
• Team Teach or equivalent de-escalation training
