Job summary

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) is seeking a Cook in Charge for the Institute of Technology site in Stafford. The role is 37 hours per week, term-time only (38 weeks), with a pro-rata salary of £21,572 per year.

Duties include cooking for students and staff, supervising catering assistants, ordering supplies, and maintaining hygiene and cleanliness. Applicants should hold an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate and NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Experience cooking in large-scale catering environments, preferably in education.
• Ability to supervise a team of catering staff.
• Good planning and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Cook in a busy kitchen and prepare a range of food items for service.
• Supervise and support catering assistants and ensure food safety.
• Order, check goods inward and maintain clean, orderly areas.

The group is currently home to a population of over 6,500 full-time students with around 2000 adult learners and students on higher education programmes. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, self- motivated and hardworking individual to join our successful team. Working at the Institute of Technology, duties include working in a busy kitchen, preparation and cooking a range of food items, service and sale of food to students and staff and stakeholders, Ordering and checking goods inward and keeping areas clean. Assisting with the supervision of a team of catering assistants.

To be successful, you will have previous experience of cooking in a large scale catering environment, ideally in education, and have a good understanding of providing healthy eating options. You will hold an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate and NVQ Level 2 Food Preparation and Cooking or equivalent.
