Job summary

Kernow Learning seeks a Cook in Charge to lead the kitchen team at Charlestown Primary School, preparing healthy meals for hundreds of children across three Kernow Learning schools in Cornwall. The role requires 37 hours per week over 38.6 weeks including holiday time for cleaning and prep work.

You will ensure meals are nutritious, well-balanced and enjoyed by pupils, with DBS checks required and safeguarding of children a priority. This is not a Cornwall Council vacancy.

• Oversee daily kitchen operations for Charlestown Primary School and support during holidays for cleaning and prep work.

Are you passionate about food? Are you able to lead our kitchen team to produce delicious and healthy lunches for hundreds of children across three Kernow Learning schools?

Our kitchen at Charlestown Primary School produces meals daily for children at our school, as well as those at Foxhole Learning Academy and Sky Primary & Eden Project Nursery. We need a Cook in Charge to lead our kitchen team and deliver high quality lunch options that are healthy, nutritious, and enjoyed by our children.

This post is a full time post, 37 hours per week, for 38.6 working weeks. This means that we need someone who is able to work every school day, as well as three days in school holiday times to undertake cleaning and preparation work.

We are committed to safeguarding children and the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and will be assessed against the Childcare Disqualification Regulations.
