Job summary

St Philips Family is seeking a reliable Cook to join our busy kitchen at Catalina House Care Centre. You will prepare and serve meals, manage budgets, and support residents with nutritious, home-style dishes.

The role requires strict hygiene, COSHH awareness, and the ability to work within policies. Training is provided, with opportunities to progress within the St Philip’s Care family across the UK.

Qualifications

• Minimum NVQ Level 2 or 706/2 in Catering.
• Knowledge of textured and modified diets.
• Experience in a care, hospital or commercial kitchen is advantageous.
• Good verbal and written skills.
• Ability to relate to residents in a kind and courteous manner.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals and beverages as required.
• Work in accordance with the home’s policies.
• Carry out kitchen duties ensuring a high standard of hygiene at all times.
• Use resources effectively and order food.
• Report issues raised by service users to the Care Centre Manager.
• Attend mandatory and in-house training as required.
• Understand COSHH.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene records as required.

We are recruiting for a reliable and experience cook to join our busy kitchen and team. A person who has high standards in quality and presentation, delivering the very best nutritional meals.

You would be able to work within budgets as set by the home manager.

At Catalina House Care Centre our residents prefer good old fashioned home cooking for example: Sunday Roast's and for puddings our residents enjoy a jam sponge or crumble with custard.

For Birthdays we make a special effort to celebrate so our Cooks and KA's make a range of cakes and sponges for these special occasion's

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS / PVG check.

As Cook you will be responsible for:

• To prepare and serve meals and beverages as required.
• To work in accordance with the homes policies.
• To carry out kitchen duties ensuring a high standard of hygiene at all times.
• To use resources effectively and order food.
• Report any issues or matters raised by service users concerning catering to the Care Centre Manager
• Attend mandatory and in house training as required
• Understand COSHH
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene records as required

As Cook it preferable for you to have:

• Minimum qualification NVQ Level 2 or 706/2 in Catering, Basic or Intermediate Food Hygiene certificate
• Knowledge of textured and modified diets
• Experience in a care, hospital or commercial kitchen setting would be advantageous but not essential as full training can be provided
• Have good verbal and written skills
• To have the ability to relate to our residents in a kind and courteous manner
