Job summary

Welbourn Manor Care Centre invites applications for a reliable and experienced cook to join a busy kitchen team. You will provide high-quality, nutritious meals with attention to presentation, within home budgets and policies.

You will work to maintain excellent hygiene, assist with ingredient ordering, and support residents with dietary needs. The role requires a passion for caring for the elderly and a proactive, friendly approach.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or 706/2 in Catering or equivalent.
• Basic or Intermediate Food Hygiene certificate.
• Experience in a care, hospital or commercial kitchen setting would be advantageous but not essential as training is provided.
• Good verbal and written communication with residents.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals and beverages as required.
• Work in line with home policies.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene in kitchen at all times.
• Use resources efficiently and order food as needed.
• Report issues raised by residents to the Care Centre Manager.
• Attend mandatory in-house training.
• Understand COSHH and keep hygiene records.

Job description

We are recruiting for a reliable and experience cook to join our busy kitchen and team. A person who has high standards in quality and presentation, delivering the very best nutritional meals.

You would be able to work within budgets as set by the home manager.

At Welbourn Manor Care Centre our residents prefer good old fashioned home cooking for example: Sunday Roast's and for puddings our residents enjoy a jam sponge or crumble with custard.

For Birthdays we make a special effort to celebrate so our Cooks and KA's make a range of cakes and sponges for these special occasion's

If you have a passion for cooking and a passion for the elderly and would like to join a supportive and inclusive team then this could be the role for you!

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS / PVG check.

As Cook you will be responsible for:

• To prepare and serve meals and beverages as required.
• To work in accordance with the homes policies.
• To carry out kitchen duties ensuring a high standard of hygiene at all times.
• To use resources effectively and order food.
• Report any issues or matters raised by service users concerning catering to the Care Centre Manager
• Attend mandatory and in house training as required
• Understand COSHH
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene records as required

As Cook it preferable for you to have:

• Minimum qualification NVQ Level 2 or 706/2 in Catering, Basic or Intermediate Food Hygiene certificate
• Knowledge of textured and modified diets
• Experience in a care, hospital or commercial kitchen setting would be advantageous but not essential as full training can be provided
• Have good verbal and written skills
• To have the ability to relate to our residents in a kind and courteous manner
