Job summary

North Star Ltd is seeking a Cook for our ERRV/MRV fleet. Start date 27th September 2026 on a permanent contract with a 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off rotation. Must hold Ships Cook CoC or Part I & II and a valid Food Hygiene certificate.

The role includes managing catering stores, designing menus, monitoring fridges and safety compliance, and assisting on deck during emergencies. The position offers a competitive salary, a contributory pension scheme and access to the Employee Assistance Programme.

Qualifications

• Candidates must hold a Ships Cook CoC or Part I & II.
• A valid Food Hygiene certificate is required.
• Experience with galley safety and catering operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage ordering, storage and use of catering stores within budget.
• Check catering stores as supplied and inform the Master of discrepancies.
• Monitor freezer and chill areas.
• Design menus and prepare all foodstuffs for crew consumption.
• Ensure galley safety and use of safety devices.
• Report defects to the Chief Engineer.
• Assist on deck during emergencies and FAST Rescue Craft operations.

Job description

The Company currently have a vacancyfor a Cookin its ERRV/MRV fleet.

Start date 27th September 2026 - Permanent Contract - 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off rotation

Candidates must hold Ships Cook CoC or Ships Cook Part I and II and a valid Food Hygiene certificate

Cook is responsible for the following:

• Management of the ordering, storage and use of all catering stores, within budget confines.

• Check catering stores as supplied, and inform the Master of stores wrongly delivered or missing.

• Monitoring of all freezer and chill areas.

• In full charge of designing menus and preparing all foodstuffs for consumption by the crew.

• Safety aspects of operations within the galley and other catering areas.

• Reporting of all defects, in the galley, Fridges, Freezers and food store areas to the Chief Engineer.

• The Cook must be familiar with all fire fighting appliances / power cut off switches and any other safety device within, or appertaining to, any catering area.

• The Cook will also assist on deck in emergency exercises and situations where Fast Rescue Craft are launched / recovered.
