Job summary

Westerton Care Home, part of Care Concern Group, is seeking a Cook to prepare nutritious meals for residents with emphasis on dietary needs and presentation. This role offers a stable day schedule with no late evenings or split shifts, and a supportive team environment.

You will work to high standards of hygiene and food safety, contribute to menu planning, and ensure a comforting dining experience for residents in a home-like setting.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Supervising Food Safety in Catering required.
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate required.
• Experience in a kitchen or food preparation role.
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Positive and reliable approach.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver high quality meals for residents.
• Tailor meals to dietary needs and preferences.
• Ensure hygiene and food safety standards at all times.
• Assist with menu planning and use fresh ingredients.

Job description

Our modern care home provides the highest quality of Residential, Dementia, Nursing & Respite care for 106-residents.

Cook Contract

• £14.50 per hour
• Contracted to 40 hours per week
• Paid PVG, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

No late evenings or split shifts, offering a consistent working pattern and genuine work life balance, alongside ongoing training and development opportunities.

Role Overview

As Cook, you will play an important role in preparing and delivering high quality, nutritious meals that support wellbeing and enhance daily life. This is a rewarding position where your cooking brings comfort, routine and enjoyment to those you support.

You will prepare and serve meals tailored to individual dietary needs and preferences, ensuring high standards of presentation, hygiene and food safety are maintained at all times. Working with fresh ingredients, you will support menu planning and contribute to a varied and balanced dining experience.

Working as part of a supportive team, you will help ensure the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently. With no late evenings or split shifts, this role offers a consistent routine and strong work life balance while still allowing you to take pride in delivering quality food every day.
