Job summary

Slingsby Primary School in Malton is recruiting a part-time Cook to join our facilities management catering team. You will prepare, cook and serve tasty, nutritious meals for students and staff, and you will set up and clear the dining area to maintain a smooth service.

Term-time only, 9:00 am to 1:30 pm (4.5 hours per day, 22.5 hours per week), with equal monthly payments throughout the year. Hourly rate £13.47–£14.13, plus annual holiday and Bank Holiday entitlement.

Qualifications

  • Experience in school catering preferred.
  • Ability to work term-time hours (9:00–13:30).
  • Assist with kitchen management tasks as required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook and serve meals for students and staff.
  • Supervise kitchen staff and manage daily kitchen tasks.
  • Order food, check stock and maintain cleanliness and safety standards.

We have an opportunity to join our award-winning FacilitiesManagement catering team where you will be providing tasty, nutritious,home-cooked meals made from locally sourced fresh produce.We are a ‘fresh food’ organisation encouraging children andyoung people to choose nutritious meals. We are proud to offer a wide choice ofhealthy options to our children encouraging them to eat well and fuelling theirappetite for learning.We are currently recruiting a Cook to join our team at SlingsbySchool, catering for around 50 meals per day.

As a Cook your role will lead and support the team todeliver an effective catering service operating to the highest standards offood safety. Your role will require you to prepare, cook and serve meals tostudents and staff, setting up and the clearing away the dining hall, washingup as well as other kitchen management duties such as supervision of staff,ordering food, stock taking and administration.As a valued member of our hardworking team, you will be reliable,dependable and committed to providing healthy wholesome dishes, typically workingfrom 9.00am till 1.30pm, 4.5 hours per day, totalling to 22.5 hrs per week.No weekend work!You will work term time only however you will receive equalmonthly payments throughout the year. For this you will be paid £13.47-£14.13 perhour in addition to annual holiday and Bank Holiday entitlement.
