Job Title: Cook

Location: Acorn Park School, Norwich, NR16 2HU

Salary: GBP20,906.25 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 7am - 3pm

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

About the role

To support the Cook Manager on a day-to-day basis and, in the absence of the Cook Manager, be responsible for the management of catering services at Acorn Park School.

Maintain high standards of practice and hygiene in all aspects of food preparation to contribute to the quality of care of each student.

General Responsibilities:
  1. Help prepare and cook main, vegetarian dishes, desserts, cakes, salads, and various diets from scratch for two refectories on a rota system.
  2. Complete food, snack, cooking, and picnic orders.
  3. Check off and put away deliveries.
  4. Serve food, wash up, and clean down each refectory.
  5. Perform cleaning tasks daily, weekly, and monthly.

Acorn Park is a school for 160 pupils, all with a primary diagnosis of Autism. We offer two curriculum pathways - Formal and Semi-formal. Our pupils with complex needs are on the Semi-Formal Pathway, highly personalized according to their EHCP. We have both Day and Residential pupils, with 8 co-located pupil's homes on our 30-acre site in rural Norfolk. Our facilities include a large Forest School, Animal Care Farm, play areas, a sports hall, and sensory rooms.

For over 16 years, Options Autism has provided care and education to pupils, young people, and adults with autism, complex needs, and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group, we lead the sector in innovative approaches that deliver measurable outcomes for those in our care.
