Job summary

Bob and Berts Cookstown is looking for an experienced cook for daytime hours to join our friendly café team. You'll help cook fresh breakfast and lunch dishes, contribute ideas to seasonal menus and keep the kitchen running smoothly in a fast-paced environment.

You'll need café or busy-kitchen experience, good organisation and teamwork, and a practical approach. Day shifts mean evenings off, and we offer staff benefits and a welcoming, creative workplace.

Qualifications

• Experience as a chef or cook in a café or busy kitchen.
• Ability to prepare breakfast and lunch quickly and consistently.
• Good organisation, communication and teamwork.
• Understanding of food hygiene and allergens; certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook fresh breakfast and lunch dishes to a high standard.
• Help shape seasonal menus using fresh, local ingredients.
• Keep service organised, efficient and calm during busy periods.
• Monitor stock, support ordering and reduce food waste.
• Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and allergen standards.
• Work closely with the front-of-house team to deliver a smooth, friendly customer experience.

You'll be part of a supportive team serving fresh, consistent food that customers look forward to. This is a practical, hands-on role where you can use quality local ingredients, contribute ideas, and help keep the kitchen organised and running smoothly. What you'll do
