Job summary

Sodexo in Ferryfield House, Edinburgh, is seeking a hands‑on Cook to prepare fresh, nutritious meals that support patient wellbeing. You will follow standardised recipes, manage day‑to‑day kitchen running and supervise staff when management is not available, especially at weekends.

The role offers a permanent contract, on‑site hours 8:00 am – 5:30 pm, and benefits outlined in the advert. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent and strong cooking skills are required.

As a Cook at Sodexo in Ferryfield House in Edinburgh, you’ll play an important role in preparing fresh, nutritious meals that support patient wellbeing and enhance the overall dining experience. This is a hands‑on cooking role, preparing mainly basic meals from fresh ingredients while following standardised recipes to ensure consistency and quality. You’ll also help manage the day‑to‑day running of the kitchen and supervise Sodexo staff when management is unavailable, particularly at weekend shift. What you’ll do:

• Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals according to recipes, specifications and standardised recipes
• Ensure meals are prepared consistently and to the required quality and presentation standards
• Ensure orders are placed and support effective stock control
• Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment
• Comply with all Company and hospital policies and procedures, as well as statutory requirements relating to health and safety, safe working practices, hygiene, cleanliness, fire safety and COSHH
• Problem‑solve effectively and respond appropriately to day‑to‑day kitchen requirements
• Supervise Sodexo staff when management is unavailable, particularly at weekends
• Lead by example, supporting a positive, professional and respectful working environment
