Job summary

Sodexo in Nuffield Health Leicester Hospital is seeking a Chef to join our hospital kitchen team. You will manage your own section, prepare high-quality meals for patients and staff, and help maintain hygiene and food safety standards.

Permanent contract with 35 hours per week, 5 days out of 7, shifts 7:00-14:30 or 11:30-19:00. £13.74 per hour with Sodexo benefits and free parking on site.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Chef in healthcare or quality-focused catering is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP, allergens, hygiene and health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver high-quality, nutritious and appealing food for patients, staff and visitors.
• Follow menus, recipes and dietary requirements to ensure food is prepared and presented to a consistently high standard.
• Maintain excellent standards of food safety, hygiene, allergen management and health and safety.
• Ensure the kitchen and all work areas are clean, safe and well organised throughout each shift.
• Support the smooth running of the kitchen and work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an excellent service.
• Monitor food quality and presentation, reporting and resolving any issues promptly.
• Support special functions and provide cover for colleagues when required.

What you bring:

• Previous experience working as a Chef in quality-focused catering environment; healthcare experience is desirable.
• A good understanding of food safety, HACCP, allergens, hygiene and health and safety requirements.
• A passion for producing great-quality food and delivering an excellent experience for patients and customers.
• The ability to work efficiently, follow recipes and instructions, and manage tasks effectively.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a positive and flexible approach.
• Good organisation, reliability and attention to detail.
• A willingness to learn, develop and complete relevant training.
