Job summary

Sodexo at Nuffield Health Glasgow Hospital is seeking a Weekend Chef to help deliver high-quality meals that support patient wellbeing. You’ll manage a section of the kitchen, maintain high standards, and thrive in a fast-paced, purpose-driven team.

Ideal candidates will have NVQ Level 2 and Food Safety Level 3, with experience in catering or healthcare environments. This role involves weekend shifts and occasional overtime, with uniform and meal provisions on shift.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent
• Food Safety certificates (Level 3 desired)
• Experience in catering, hospitality or healthcare environments
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Excellent punctuality and time management
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
• Understanding of food hygiene and health & safety practices
• Experience completing HACCP documentation desirable

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality food service to patients, visitors and staff
• Prepare and serve fresh food in line with standards and budget guidelines
• Follow health & safety, food safety and safeguarding procedures
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation across kitchen and service areas
• Respond to customer feedback and escalate concerns when needed
• Assist with stock security, minimise waste and report issues
• Work flexibly, cover absences and support training and events

Weekend Chef

What you’ll do:

• Deliver a high-quality food service to patients, visitors and colleagues
• Prepare and serve fresh food in line with company standards, food safety requirements and budget guidelines.
• Follow all health & safety, food safety and safeguarding procedures at all times.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation across all kitchen and service areas.
• Respond promptly to customer feedback, escalating concerns and taking appropriate action where required.
• Support stock security, minimise waste and report any incidents, accidents or food safety concerns.
• Work flexibly to support the team, including covering absences, attending training and assisting with special events when needed.

What you bring:

• NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) and Food Safety certificates(level 3 desired)
• Experience preparing and cooking fresh food in a catering, hospitality or healthcare environment.
• A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Excellent punctuality, attendance and time management skills.
• The ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and efficiently.
• A strong understanding of food hygiene, health & safety and safe working practices.
• High standards of personal hygiene, cleanliness and attention to detail.
• Experience completing food safety or HACCP documentation is desirable
