Job summary

Join Sodexo as a Cook in Blackburn and take ownership of preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals in an Approved Premises. Working independently, you'll play an important role in creating a safe, welcoming environment for residents and staff.

This role offers weekend work (Saturday and Sunday) from 8:00 to 14:00, with 12 hours per week and a pay rate of £12.91 per hour. You will ensure meals are ready on time and maintain high hygiene standards while working autonomously.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a professional cooking or catering role is essential.
• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen procedures.
• Able to work independently, manage your time and prioritise tasks.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Reliable, self-motivated and confident working alone.
• Positive and flexible, with the ability to work well with others and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals for residents and staff.
• Manage the kitchen independently and make sure meals are ready and served on time.
• Keep the kitchen and dining areas clean and maintain high food hygiene standards.
• Check stock levels and order or replenish ingredients and supplies when needed.
• Work well with colleagues and communicate clearly to keep the service running smoothly.
• Follow all health, safety and food hygiene procedures, including when working alone.
