Job summary

Berkeley Scott is recruiting experienced School Cooks to work across primary and secondary schools in Birmingham and the surrounding areas. You will prepare fresh meals in a busy school kitchen and support a safe, efficient operation.

Roles involve cooking nutritious meals, assisting with service during peak times, maintaining high food hygiene standards, following HACCP and allergen procedures, and supporting the kitchen team with daily duties. Flexible ongoing agency work with weekly pay.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Cook in school, education, care, or commercial catering environment.
  • Food Safety Level 2 Certificate is required.
  • Food Allergen Awareness Certificate is required.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals.
  • Assist with food preparation and service during busy meal periods.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Follow Food Safety, HACCP and allergen procedures.
  • Support the kitchen team with daily duties.
  • Assist with stock rotation and storage.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned and maintained correctly.

School Cook - Birmingham & Surrounding Areas

£16.00-£17.00 per hour | Weekly Pay | Ongoing Agency Work

Berkeley Scott is currently recruiting experienced School Cooks to work across primary and secondary schools in Birmingham and the surrounding areas. If you have experience preparing fresh meals in a busy school kitchen and are looking for flexible, ongoing work, we'd love to hear from you. We have a variety of temporary assignments available, offering competitive pay and excellent work-life balance.

The Role

As a School Cook, you will play an important role in preparing and serving nutritious meals while ensuring the kitchen operates safely and efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and cooking fresh, nutritious meals.
  • Assisting with food preparation and service during busy meal periods.
  • Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Following Food Safety, HACCP and allergen procedures.
  • Supporting the kitchen team with daily duties.
  • Assisting with stock rotation and storage.
  • Ensuring all kitchen equipment is cleaned and maintained correctly.

What We're Looking For

To be considered, you should have:

  • Previous experience as a Cook within a school, education, care, or commercial catering environment.
  • Food Safety Level 2 Certificate.
  • Food Allergen Awareness Certificate.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
  • A reliable, hardworking and professional attitude.
  • The ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Own transport is desirable due to travel between school sites.

  • Competitive pay of £16.00-£17.00 per hour, depending on experience.
