Job summary

Berkeley Scott is recruiting experienced School Cooks to work across primary and secondary schools in Birmingham and the surrounding areas. If you have experience preparing fresh meals in a busy school kitchen and are looking for flexible, ongoing work, we'd love to hear from you.

We have a variety of temporary assignments available, offering competitive pay and excellent work-life balance. Role involves preparing and cooking meals, supporting service, and maintaining safe kitchen practices.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Cook in a school, education, care or commercial catering setting.
• Food Safety Level 2 Certificate.
• Food Allergen Awareness Certificate.
• Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• Reliable, hardworking and professional attitude.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Own transport is desirable due to travel between school sites.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking fresh, nutritious meals.
• Assisting with food preparation and service during busy meal periods.
• Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.
• Following Food Safety, HACCP and allergen procedures.
• Supporting the kitchen team with daily duties.
• Assisting with stock rotation and storage.
• Ensuring all kitchen equipment is cleaned and maintained correctly.
