Base pay range

This position offers a salary package circa £60k-£75k, depending on qualifications, skills, and experience, plus overtime and excellent benefits including a large annual company bonus, generous holidays, a 10% contributory pension scheme, and a gym allowance. The role is based in Hampshire within a stable, well-established, and growing company.

Role overview

This challenging role is suitable for an experienced Controls and Instrumentation engineer or C&I technician with expertise in controls systems, instrumentation, and control panel design within industries such as chemical, pharmaceutical, water, oil and gas, nuclear, hazardous live sites, and refineries. The primary responsibility is to manage and coordinate maintenance, design, and improvements of process control and safety systems for the plant.

Candidate requirements

• Experience in controls systems, instrumentation, control panels, and plant design.
• Knowledge of control & instrumentation design standards for process plants.
• Qualifications such as an apprenticeship, HNC in Electrical, Electrical, or Instrument & Control Engineering, with good knowledge of instrumentation, safety instrumented systems, and control design.
• Desirable: experience with IEC 61508, 61511 standards, and BS EN 60079 for explosive atmospheres.
• Valid UK driving license and own vehicle for site access.
• Eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and improve process control and safety systems.
• Lead safety initiatives and ensure site safety compliance.
• Support site maintenance, development, and supervise C&I Technicians.
• Develop project scopes and schedules for plant improvements and capital projects.
• Design and implement new control and safety systems.
• Manage budgets, CAPEX, and OPEX effectively.
• Review and improve safety instrumented systems and documentation.
