Job summary

Proserv is seeking a Controls Engineer (Mechanical) to join our Engineering team in Great Yarmouth. You will design subsea and topside control systems and produce technical documentation, supporting the full engineering lifecycle from design to commissioning.

The role requires an engineering qualification (BEng preferred) and an understanding of industrial mechanical and hydraulic control systems, with offshore experience a plus. A UK driving license and offshore certification may be needed.

What You Need to Know

Proserv is looking for a Controls Engineer (Mechanical) to join our Engineering team in Great Yarmouth.

Our Engineering team designs and supports industrial control systems for the energy sector, delivering innovative subsea and topside solutions to customers around the world. This is an opportunity to work across the full engineering lifecycle, from design and calculations through to manufacture, testing and commissioning.

As a Controls Engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineers and colleagues across the business to develop hydraulic, pneumatic and instrumentation-based control systems, producing the technical documentation required to support their delivery.

What We Are Looking For

Some of the Key Accountabilities:

• Designing and implementing subsea and topside control systems.

• Producing clear and concise engineering documentation.

• Carrying out engineering calculations to confirm designs meet required specifications.

• Ensuring technical solutions comply with relevant specifications, standards and QA/QC requirements.

• Working closely with procurement, manufacturing, testing and commissioning teams.

• Supporting the delivery of projects within agreed timescales and requirements.

• Working with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure requirements are understood and met.

• Supporting testing, commissioning and fault-finding activities where required.

• Contributing to a strong culture of quality, health, safety and continuous improvement.

The majority of your work will be based at our Great Yarmouth facility, although there will be opportunities to support site activities, commissioning, testing and customer projects both in the UK and overseas.

Qualifications /Skills & Experience

You’ll have an engineering qualification, ideally at BEng level or equivalent (please still apply if you have a HNC/HND or equivalent), alongside an understanding of industrial mechanical and hydraulic control systems.

We’re particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

• Experience or knowledge of subsea and/or topside controls projects.

• An understanding of fluid dynamics and/or structural calculations.

• Experience with engineering calculation and analysis software such as MathCAD or CS8.

• Familiarity with CAD systems, such as SolidWorks or Autodesk products.

• Experience using ERP systems.

• Knowledge of materials and their properties.

• Understanding of hazardous area equipment selection, installation and maintenance.

• Experience of on-site/offshore commissioning or fault-finding.

You’ll also need to be comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team, with strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload and deliver within time and cost constraints.

Please note that due to the nature of the role, a valid UK driving license and passport are required, together with the ability to maintain an offshore survival certificate where applicable.
