Job summary

IPL Schoeller in Wolverhampton is seeking a dedicated Controls Engineer to design, implement, and maintain PLC and HMI systems for automated manufacturing lines. The role emphasizes reliability, safety, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

You will work on integration of new equipment, develop solutions, and ensure compliance with PUWER and CE standards while providing training to maintenance and production staff. This full-time position operates on days, 07:30–16:00.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, automation, mechatronics, or related discipline.
• Experience in a controls engineering role within FMCG/high-volume manufacturing.
• Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI development, and industrial communication protocols.

Responsibilities

• Develop, program, and maintain PLC, HMI systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi).
• Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues to minimize production downtime.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support integration of new equipment and automation technologies.
• Ensure all control systems comply with health, safety, and regulatory standards (PUWER, CE).
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurring control faults.
• Maintain documentation of control configurations, changes, and procedures.
• Provide technical training and support to maintenance and production personnel.
• Contribute to continuous improvement to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
• Escalate quality concerns via non-conformances when necessary.
