Job summary

JLR in Wolverhampton is seeking a Controls Engineer to support new production line launches at the Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre. You’ll lead controls projects, deliver training for Operations and vendor teams, and provide expert technical support across plant equipment.

You will collaborate with OEMs to ensure standards compliance, design data networks, and drive continuous improvement. A strong background in Siemens 840D, Step 7, and Sinamics is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in controls engineering within an automated manufacturing environment.
• Leading and implementing control system projects using Siemens 840D and Step 7 PLCs (Simatic Manager & TIA Portal).
• In-depth knowledge of Sinamics drive systems and industrial automation technologies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee new launch programmes from a controls and engineering perspective, ensuring all new production lines meet performance and reliability standards.
• Develop and deliver training plans for Manufacturing Operations and vendor teams.
• Provide expert technical support to production and maintenance teams across plant equipment.
• Collaborate with OEMs to ensure compliance with PTME Controls Standards and resolve issues.
• Design and maintain plant process control data networks.
• Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
