Job summary

Babcock invites applications for a four-year Control Systems Engineer Degree Apprentice based at Devonport. You will study for a BEng in Applied Professional Engineering with block-release, while gaining hands-on experience in maintenance and optimisation of control systems at a naval dockyard.

You’ll work with PLCs, HMIs and instrumentation, contribute to projects and onsite support, and complete placements with dedicated mentoring and training. Flexibility for on-site work is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 112 UCAS tariff points.
• GCSE Maths, English and STEM subject at grade C/4 or above.
• A level Maths at Grade B.
• UK nationality requirement and BPSS/SC/NNPI security clearances may apply.

Responsibilities

• Engage in maintenance, improvement and optimisation of control systems across Devonport Royal Dockyard.
• Learn and apply PLCs, HMIs and instrumentation technologies through the apprenticeship.
• Contribute to project planning, design, testing and commissioning of new or modified control systems.
• Complete a BEng Applied Professional Engineering degree through the University of Warwick while on program.
