Job summary

Pertemps Network Group is seeking a Control Room Shift Manager for its Sheffield-area operations centre. The role focuses on safe, reliable remote operation of multiple production plants in a 24/7 environment using advanced control systems.

You will monitor plant performance, respond to alarms, investigate faults, and lead start-ups and changes to meet demand while improving efficiency and reducing costs. A strong safety-first mindset and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• . HNC or above in Electrical/Instrumentation/Process Engineering or equivalent.
• . Experience in control room or process operations environment.
• . Experience with industrial control systems (SCADA, PCS7 Siemens or similar).
• . Strong analytical and fault-finding skills; able to make decisions under pressure.
• . Proactive safety-first approach with good communication and teamwork.
• . Plant commissioning experience would be advantageous.

Salary: £50,000 Basic + £12,000 Shift Allowance (£62,000 per year altogether)

Location: Sheffield Area, South Yorkshire

Schedule: Days & Nights (shift-based work)

The Opportunity

Our client is looking to appoint a Control Room Shift Manager to join its state-of-the-art Operations Centre in the Sheffield area.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with control room or process operations experience to join a global industry leader, where you'll play a key role in the safe and efficient operation of large-scale production facilities within a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Offering a highly competitive package of £50,000 basic salary plus a £12,000 shift allowance, this role also provides genuine long-term career prospects. The Role

Working as part of a highly skilled operations team, you'll be responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient remote operation of multiple production plants using advanced control systems and cutting-edge technology.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring and controlling plant performance across a 24-hour operation
• Responding to alarms, process disturbances and operational issues to maintain safe and efficient production
• Investigating faults using plant data and performance trends to identify root causes and implement improvements
• Managing plant start-ups and operational changes to ensure customer demand is met while optimising efficiency and controlling costs
• Carrying out performance reviews and recommending improvements to maximise plant reliability and productivity
• Ensuring the highest standards of process safety, compliance and operational excellence are maintained at all times.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, thrives in a fast-paced operational environment and is passionate about continuous improvement.

You'll ideally have:

• An HNC (or above) in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a similar discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
• Previous experience working within a control room or process operations environment
• Experience using industrial control systems such as SCADA, PCS7 Siemens or similar
• Strong analytical and fault-finding skills with the ability to make sound operational decisions under pressure
• A proactive, safety-first approach with excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Plant commissioning experience would be advantageous but is not essential
