Job Overview

A vacancy has arisen within our team at Drax Power Station for a Control Room Operator to support our operations. Hargreaves Industrial Services provides a varied Operations and Maintenance service at Drax Power Station, handling, maintaining, and reclaiming materials including FBA, Coal, and Mitigant Slurry, while managing material stocks and transportation using a range of Mobile Plant.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating and monitoring all aspects of fixed plant related to biomass and materials handling.
• Operating and monitoring plant from the Materials Handling Control Room.
• Delegating work activities to HIS operational employees.
• Carrying out operational tasks within the HIS contract area, requiring training and competence.
• Identifying defects via alarm system monitoring, logging, and raising WOC’s on the maintenance control system.
• Managing shift maintenance planning and administration.
• Updating maintenance planning documentation.
• Ensuring safety protocols are followed.
• Communicating with the Safety Controller.
• Performing ‘Designated Person’ duties, including application/removal of safety precautions as instructed.
• Operating the MH Control Desks following training criteria.
• Maintaining ‘first responder’ responsibilities, including diagnosing alarms and assisting with major breakdowns.
• Participating in site spillages and blockages cleanup, testing, and shutdowns.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Operational training and competence.
• Experience in control room operations.
• Good communication skills.
• Knowledge of PPM and RCM inspection criteria.
• Understanding of asset lubrication principles.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

• Permit acceptance within Drax safety rules.
• Forklift truck operation certification.
• Designated Persons – Precautions and GP4 duties.
• Welding & Burning (Hot Works) certification.
• Mechanical Maintenance Program training.
• Maintenance Qualifications, such as City & Guilds Level 3 (1788) and NVQ Level 2.
