Job summary

Trant Engineering Ltd is seeking a Control Panel Test Engineer for their workshop near Totton, Southampton. You will inspect and verify panels, MCCs and automation systems prior to dispatch, carrying out comprehensive electrical testing and documentation.

Ideal candidates have electrical engineering qualifications and strong BS EN testing experience, with a focus on safe isolation, traceability and compliance. The role includes site‑based testing and collaboration with project teams.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 / HNC / HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strength in BS EN testing and verification requirements.
• Recognised electrical safety and testing training, including safe isolation practices.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test and verify control panels, MCCs and automation systems prior to dispatch.
• Conduct insulation resistance, continuity, polarity, functional and operational tests.
• Set up instrumentation and testing equipment to ensure thorough verification of systems.
• Maintain traceability of components and test results; prepare documentation for handover to clients.
• Support FATs with clients or inspectors and assist with fault-finding during tests.
• Ensure compliance with IEC/BS/international standards and safe testing procedures.
