Job summary

Trant Engineering Ltd is seeking a Control Panel Test Engineer to join our workshop near Totton, Southampton. You will inspect, test and verify control panels, MCCs and automation systems to ensure compliance with BS EN 61439-2 and client specifications, providing safety and reliability in every assembly.

The role involves supporting FATs with clients, preparing documentation for handover, and maintaining compliant test records.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 / HNC / HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of BS EN 61439-2:2021 testing and verification.
• Electrical safety & testing training, including safe isolation practices.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, GA drawings.
• Proven experience testing panels, MCCs or automation systems in manufacturing.
• Experience with routine verification testing per BS EN 61439-2.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test and verify control panels, MCCs and automation systems.
• Ensure compliance with BS EN 61439-2, client specs and QA procedures.
• Prepare final documentation for handover to clients.
• Perform functional, insulation resistance, continuity and operational testing.
• Support FATs with clients or third-party inspectors.
• Identify non-conformances and assist with corrective actions.
