Job summary

Cadent Foundation in the United Kingdom is seeking a Control Engineer to support the technology, telemetry and control room systems that enable the safe and efficient operation of Cadent's gas network.

Within the Emergency Control Centre (ECC), you will maintain and develop SCADA and telemetry systems, ensuring data integrity and the security of critical infrastructure while supporting system configuration and operational processes.

Qualifications

• GCSEs Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in STEM-related subjects.
• Qualifications beyond GCSE level in STEM, Engineering, IT, Computer Science or a related discipline are desirable.
• Strong customer focus and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience supporting or working within change management environments.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and disciplines.
• A collaborative approach and proven ability to work as part of a high-performing team.
• An appreciation of control room environments, operational technology systems and the need for rapid fault response.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex technical issues and their wider operational impacts.
• The ability to apply sound engineering judgement based on evidence, experience and risk.
• Knowledge of Safe Control of Operations (SCO) principles would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the systems that enable safe and efficient control of the gas network.
• Maintain and develop SCADA and telemetry systems within the ECC.
• Ensure data integrity and secure, reliable operational processes.
• Collaborate with Control Room teams, Energy Operations and Information Systems to deliver system improvements.
