Role of Commercial

Commercial owns the contractual relationship with our customers, helps develop customer engagement strategies, leads negotiations, and influences innovative solutions. Daily activities vary from managing internal governance and financial performance to addressing customer queries, bids, and demands globally. Commercial acts as the interface between the business and the customer; without this arrangement, no contractual commitments or changes could be implemented.

Summary of Role:

Working under the direction of the Commercial Manager, this role offers an opportunity to join Raytheon’s Mission Critical Solutions business during a period of technological development and rapid sales of key products.

The position is based within a complex commercial environment involving multiple contracting methodologies across various program types with an international customer base. The work is challenging and engaging, providing exposure to full spectrum customer and supplier interactions, along with internal stakeholder management.

Main Duties:

1. Respond to simple RFQs for standard equipment and services.
2. Support the Commercial team in preparing responses to complex Requests for Proposal/ITTs/PQQs.
3. Implement and manage standard agreements, e.g., NDAs, template contracts.
4. Support Programme and Business Development teams during prospecting and bidding, under supervision.
5. Assist the business finance team in managing invoicing and cash collection processes.
6. Participate in cross-functional improvement activities.
7. Handle all commercial functional requirements from cradle to grave on supply contracts.
8. Ensure understanding of export controls and compliance requirements, including GDPR and government classifications.
9. Collaborate with business teams to meet central targets and address local challenges.
10. Understand policy requirements for the gate process and contribute to gate packs.

Candidate Requirements:

• Business degree or equivalent experience.
• Ability to respond to tasks with tenacity and flexibility, working cross-functionally in a multidisciplinary team.
• Remain calm under pressure and collaborate effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of Contract Management and Procurement principles.
• Self-motivated and capable of independent work.
• Willingness and ability to travel occasionally within the UK.
• Awareness of Data Protection and relevant commercial and contract legislation.
• Attend customer and supplier meetings in support of supervisors.
• Familiarity with business process management tools (e.g., IPDS, SAP) and the competitive bidding process.
