Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is seeking a Contracts Specialist to lead the review, negotiation, and amendment of contract documents in support of the Sales Department, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and risk requirements.

You will advise multiple departments, translate technical and commercial requirements into robust provisions, manage disputes and variations, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Regular overseas travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Formal qualifications or equivalent relevant experience in engineering, construction, or law with sound experience as a contract specialist or similar position.
• Good knowledge of the English legal system and contract law.
• Demonstrable experience in identifying and assessing contractual and commercial risks, developing mitigation strategies, and balancing risk with commercial objectives.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, together with negotiation and analytical abilities.
• Ability to interface with other departments and refer matters to management as required.
• Ability to travel regularly overseas (often at short notice) and work beyond contracted hours.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain in-house standard contracts and documentation.
• Review and critically analyse customers’ contractual documentation.
• Liaise with UK and overseas lawyers as necessary.
• Provide support and advice to Sales about contract negotiation and amendments.
• Translate technical and commercial requirements into robust contractual provisions.
• Draft, review, and amend NDAs, supplier agreements, customer contracts, and framework agreements.
• Identify and assess legal, financial, and operational risks and elevate appropriately.
• Liaise with Customer Support on maintenance contracts.
• Assist Projects to ensure efficient execution of contractual obligations and dispute resolution.
• Duties may be varied or amended according to business needs.
