Job summary

Braintree District Council is seeking a Contracts & Projects Technical Officer to provide support to the Contracts & Projects Manager within our Operations Service, ensuring smooth delivery of projects and contracts across the district.

The role covers managing small projects, supporting capital and annual plan projects, handling project finances, updating the contracts register, renewals and required contract documentation, and assisting with inspections of sites and traffic orders.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Proven IT skills with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Full valid driving licence and access to own transport for travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Support the Contracts & Projects Manager to deliver projects and manage contracts across the district.
• Manage project finances: raise purchase orders, process invoices, update financial trackers and budget sheets.
• Maintain and update the contracts register; manage contract renewals and contract support within timeframes.
• Assist with inspections of operational sites to ensure maintenance is completed on time and to specification.
• Support applications for Traffic Regulation Orders and Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders.
• Provide support for event requests in parks and open spaces.
• Work in office or outdoors; strong IT skills with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
