Job summary

Braintree District Council is seeking a Contracts & Projects Technical Officer to provide support to the Contracts & Projects Manager within the Operations Service. You will help deliver projects across the district and oversee smaller capital and annual plan initiatives.

The role includes financial administration, updates to the contracts register, renewals, site inspections, traffic orders applications, and event coordination in parks and open spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Contracts & Projects Manager to deliver projects across the district.
  • Take responsibility for smaller projects including capital and annual plan projects.
  • Manage project finances: raise purchase orders, process invoices, and update financial trackers.
  • Maintain the contracts register and manage contract renewals within agreed timeframes.
  • Support inspections of operational sites to ensure maintenance and repairs are completed on time.
  • Assist with Traffic Regulation Orders and Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders applications.
  • Support event requests in parks and open spaces.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Contracts & Projects Technical Officer to provide support to the Contracts & Projects Manager within our Operations Service, ensuring the smooth delivery of projects and supporting all contracts.

This role has full responsibility for smaller projects, whilst also supporting on capital and annual plan projects. The post holder will also support the team with managing project finances including raising purchase orders, processing invoices, updating financial trackers and budget sheets, alongside maintaining and updating the contracts register, managing contract renewals and contract support within agreed timeframes.

Other responsibilities in this varied role will include assisting with the programme of inspections of operational sites across the District to ensure routine maintenance and repairs are completed on time and to specification, and supporting the management of applications for Traffic Regulation Orders and Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders. Plus providing support to all event requests in our parks and open spaces.

The Operations Service is fast paced and varied, and this role will suit a highly motivated individual with a positive, can-do approach. To be successful in this role, you will need to be equally happy to work in an office environment or outside all year round. Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills are essential; and proven IT skills with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and Power Point are a must.

The successful candidate must have a full valid driving licence, an acceptable driving record and access to their own transport to enable travel to a variety of sites across the district.
