Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley is seeking a Contracts Manager to oversee a portfolio of water and civil works from our Shifnal offices, delivering across the Severn Trent region. You will lead site teams, manage programme delivery and ensure client satisfaction while upholding our standards.

The role requires a background in civil engineering, NEC contracts and proven leadership, with the ability to communicate across stakeholders and travel to sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • CSCS and SSSTS/SMSTS are required.
  • Experience in the water sector or heavy civils is essential.
  • HNC or degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Understand civil engineering principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of NEC3 or NEC4 is advantageous.
  • Excellent organisation and problem-solving skills are needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.

  • Lead a team of site managers to ensure successful programme execution.
  • Improve awareness, compliance and performance with company standards and processes.
  • Facilitate the growth and development of the team.

Job description

As a Contracts Manager you will be responsible for a portfolio of schemes that enhance our environment and communities - from improving flood defences, to upgrading water treatment works and providing nature-based solutions that improve biodiversity. Our Contract Managers are great communicators, motivators & leaders, who have a wealth of technical knowledge, and have full ownership of the whole process from inception to handover.

We secured our first contract with Severn Trent at the beginning of AMP5 in 2009. Three AMPs later and Severn Trent has grown to become our largest client in terms of turnover. We’ve laid strong roots in the area, working from offices at Shifnal in the West Midlands, but delivering work across the Severn Trent patch. 420 colleagues are based in the region, in all roles from frontline construction to commercial management, operations to design.

The Role Of a Contracts Manager Includes

  • Overall responsibility for commercial and programme delivery whilst ensuring client satisfaction
What You’ll Need
  • CSCS, SSSTS/ SMSTS
  • Experience within the water sector or heavy civils background
  • HNC / Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Understand civil engineering principles and practices
  • Knowledge of NEC3 or 4
  • Excellent organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region
