Job summary

Cavendish Professionals is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager in London to oversee a portfolio of RC Frame and Groundworks projects. You will lead project teams, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure compliance with safety and contractual obligations.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and a solid track record in heavy civils. A UK driving licence and relevant qualifications are essential for site-based work.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Contracts Manager in RC Frame and Groundworks sectors.
• Experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete structures and groundwork packages.
• Excellent commercial awareness and contractual knowledge.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Ability to build and maintain effective client relationships.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
• Proficient in MS Office and project management software.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• HNC/HND or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related discipline preferred.
• SMSTS Certificate.
• CSCS Card.
• First Aid at Work preferred.
• Temporary Works Coordinator advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of 3-5 RC Frame and Groundworks projects simultaneously.
• Lead and support Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers and site teams.
• Monitor programmes, costs and resource allocation.
• Attend client, consultant and subcontractor meetings and maintain relationships.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and implement solutions.
• Ensure safety compliance and quality standards across all phases.
• Collaborate with commercial team on budgets, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Conduct regular site visits and project audits.
• Support business development and help secure future work.

We are currently recruiting for a Contracts Manager to join one of our well-established clients in London.

Our client is a leading UK-based contractor specializing in Heavy Civils, RC Frames, and Groundworks.

Requirements:

• Manage and oversee a portfolio of 3-5 RC Frame and Groundworks projects simultaneously.
• Take overall responsibility for project delivery from pre-construction through to completion.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements.
• Lead and support Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers, and site teams.
• Monitor project programmes, progress, costs, and resource allocation.
• Attend client, consultant, and subcontractor meetings, maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
• Identify and mitigate project risks while implementing effective solutions.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
• Review project performance, commercial reporting, and monthly forecasts.
• Work closely with the commercial team to manage budgets, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
• Ensure quality standards are met throughout all phases of construction.
• Conduct regular site visits and project audits.
• Support business development activities and assist in securing future work opportunities.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience working as a Contracts Manager within the RC Frame and Groundworks sector.
• Experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete structures, groundwork packages, and associated construction methodologies.
• Excellent commercial awareness and contractual knowledge.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Ability to build and maintain effective client relationships.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• HNC/HND or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).
• SMSTS Certificate.
• CSCS Card.
• First Aid at Work (preferred).
• Temporary Works Coordinator (advantageous).
