Building Careers UK is recruiting an experienced Contracts Manager for a major civil engineering and groundworks contractor. You will influence how contracts are run, lead multi-project delivery, and work with Site Managers, Engineers and the delivery team to keep programmes on track.
You’ll be responsible for resources, costs, health and safety, and commercial performance while developing people and fostering a collaborative culture across projects.
We're currently working with an established contractor who are looking to strengthen their team with an experienced Contracts Manager.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants more than simply overseeing a project from a distance. The successful candidate will have a genuine influence on how contracts are run, how teams perform and ultimately how projects are delivered.
You’ll be overseeing multiple groundworks and civil engineering projects, working alongside Site Managers, Engineers and the wider delivery team to make sure everything stays on track. That means keeping a close eye on programmes, resources, quality, commercial performance and health & safety, while being proactive when issues arise.
A big part of the role will be leading people. We’re looking for someone who can get the best out of their teams, communicate clearly and create a culture where people take ownership and work well together. You’ll need to be comfortable challenging when necessary, but equally willing to support and develop the people around you.
You’ll be involved across the full lifecycle of your contracts, including:
You’ll need a solid background in groundworks or civil engineering and proven experience managing contracts at a senior level.
We’re particularly interested in people who have progressed beyond managing individual sites and have experience taking responsibility for multiple projects and teams.
You’ll be someone who is organised and commercially aware, but also practical enough to understand what is happening on the ground. You’ll be confident dealing with clients, subcontractors and your own teams and won’t be someone who waits for problems to solve themselves.
Most importantly, you’ll be a people person and a leader.
Our client is placing a lot of importance on finding someone who fits the existing team and has the right approach to managing people. They want someone who can earn respect, communicate well, take responsibility and bring teams together.
We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities. Our recruitment process is designed to ensure equal opportunities for all candidates, regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic.
Please Note: Due to high volume of applicants, only those shortlisted will be contacted.
