Job summary

British Solar Renewables is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to own the subcontractor tender process and manage construction costs for a 150MW solar and 60MW BESS project, based in Scunthorpe four days a week. Travel to Somerset for a monthly contact day is required.

You will support project budgets, deliver weekly cost insights to senior stakeholders, and manage payments, variations and site visits, building strong relationships with subcontractors and internal teams to strengthen future budgeting.

Qualifications

• Qualified Quantity Surveyor or equivalent experience in commercial construction or renewables.
• Experience with commercial project delivery in construction or similar fields.
• ICP appointment experience is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Turn subcontractor tendering into smart commercial decisions and appoint the right partners.
• Assist with project budgets and cost plans, keeping numbers clear and useful.
• Provide senior stakeholders with weekly cost insights on progress, risks and opportunities.
• Keep payment processes moving smoothly from reviewing claims to issuing certificates.
• Spot cost pressure early and help teams make practical decisions.
• Manage variations, keeping scope and spend aligned.
• Visit sites to understand progress and provide commercial judgement.
• Build relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams.
• Turn cost data into lessons to improve reporting and budgeting.
