Job summary

Omega Leeds is seeking a Contract Maintenance Engineer for night shifts to cover a 3-month period at our Pontefract site. You will service and repair material handling equipment, inspect systems, and implement improvements while working 10pm–6am on Sundays to Thursdays.

The role emphasizes an electrical bias with mechanical competence on conveyors and processing lines, requiring hands-on maintenance and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with PLC / automation and safe systems of work.
• Hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or automation setting.
• Ability to solve problems and support maintenance of conveyors and processing lines.

Responsibilities

• To service, adjust and repair process and production materials handling machinery.
• Inspect machinery and report on condition, performance and improvements.
• Carry out planned and preventative maintenance to schedules.
• Overtime may be required to support peaks in demand.

Job Title: Contract Maintenance Engineer - temporary contract, nights 3 months

Location: Pontefract, Ferrybridge area A1 , M62, M18 access

Pay Range: £40 - £42 per hour open to experience and expectations

Contract Type: Contract nights cover due to peak demand, 10pm-6am Sunday to thursday nights

Key Responsibilities – Contract Maintenance Engineer - Nights

• To service adjust and repair process and production materials handling machinery and equipment using the necessary tools in a safe and proper manner
• To examine machinery and equipment and report on condition, performance, and plan of action for improvements
• Carry out Planned and preventative maintenance to agreed schedules
• There is a potential of overtime and again flexibility will be required to support this when needed

Qualifications & Requirements – Contract Maintenance Engineer - Nights

• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrical or mechanical engineering or similar manufacturing or automation
• Or equivalent of any of the above in electrical or mechanical fields preferably with a manufacturing background
• A competent electrical or mechanical engineering professional with technical experience
• Must be able to solve problems, PLC / automation experience ideally produce safe systems of work
• Should be capable of contributing to the development, manufacture, commissioning, decommissioning, operation or maintenance of products, equipment, process or service
• This is an all-round hands-on maintenance electrical role ias well as conveyors and processing
• Extensive planned maintenance tasks and organisation of the engineering plant is also essential

Candidates who are currently a Contract Electrical Engineer, Contract Electrical Shift Engineer, mechanical maintenance engineer, Contract Multi Skilled Shift Engineer, Electrical Maintenance, Maintenance Engineer, Multi Skilled Engineer, machine tool maintenance , Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer, Fitter, Plant Engineer, Electrician and Electrical Engineer and any equivalent background will be suitable for the role.
