Job summary

Omega is seeking a Contract Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to support a highly automated distribution facility in Burnley. You will perform both electrical and mechanical maintenance on conveyors and sortation equipment, diagnose PLC faults, and work with operations to ensure safe, efficient running of the site.

The role involves planned and reactive maintenance, continuous improvement activities, and thorough maintenance documentation.

Qualifications

• Time-served maintenance engineer with electrical or mechanical bias preferred.
• Experience in automated distribution, warehouse, logistics, manufacturing or material handling environments.
• PLC fault-finding experience and ability to fault-find electrical/mechanical issues.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on automated distribution equipment.
• Fault find and repair conveyors, motors, sortation systems and associated automated handling equipment.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime and maintain operational performance.
• PLC fault-finding and troubleshooting to identify and rectify equipment issues.
• Support continuous improvement projects and equipment reliability initiatives.
• Work closely with operations teams to ensure safe and efficient running of the facility.
• Complete maintenance documentation and ensure compliance with site health & safety procedures.

We are recruiting for a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to support a highly automated distribution facility in the Burnley area. This fast-paced operation relies on a range of automated material handling equipment to ensure maximum throughput and efficiency. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining equipment uptime, responding to breakdowns, and supporting continuous improvement activities across the site.

Experience / Qualifications - Contract Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer

• Time-served and/or formally qualified Maintenance Engineer (Electrical or Mechanical bias considered).
• Previous experience within an automated distribution, warehouse, logistics, manufacturing or material handling environment.
• Strong knowledge of conveyors, motors, sorters and associated automation equipment.
• PLC fault-finding experience.
• Multi-skilled maintenance capability with both electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Ability to work independently within a fast-paced operational environment.
• Available to start at short notice and commit to a circa 12-week contract.
