Job summary

A regional law firm in the West Midlands is seeking a Senior Contentious Probate Lawyer / Partner to lead and expand its Contentious Trusts & Probate offering. Hybrid working is on offer, with an opportunity to establish a leading practice and shape the team.

The role requires at least 8 years of PQE in contentious trusts and probate, a proven track record of generating work, and strong leadership abilities to mentor the current team and grow the department.

Are you an experienced Contentious Probate Partner looking for the opportunity to build and lead a specialist team?

A highly regarded regional law firm is looking to appoint a Senior Contentious Probate Lawyer / Partner to take responsibility for the continued development and growth of its Contentious Trusts & Probate offering.

This is an exciting opportunity for an established CTP Partner with a proven track record of generating work, who is looking for the autonomy and platform to build a successful practice.

The existing CTP team consists of a Solicitor and Associate, providing an established foundation from which to grow. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the team, set its direction and develop a leading contentious probate practice.

The role

You will be responsible for:

• Managing a varied caseload of complex and high-value contentious probate matters.
• Generating your own work and developing new business opportunities.
• Building and maintaining strong client and professional relationships.
• Leading, supervising and mentoring the existing CTP team.
• Developing the size and profile of the practice.
• Working closely with the firm's highly regarded Private Client team to maximise referral opportunities.
• Collaborating with the wider Litigation team on complex and high-value disputes.
• Establishing and implementing the strategic direction of the CTP practice.

The ideal candidate

The firm is particularly interested in speaking to existing Contentious Probate Partners who are looking for a genuine opportunity to build and lead a specialist practice.

You should have:

• 8+ years' PQE.
• A strong 100% Contentious Trusts & Probate practice.
• A proven track record of handling high-value and complex cases.
• An established network and demonstrable ability to generate your own work.
• Experience of leading, mentoring and developing lawyers.
• Excellent client relationship and business development skills.
• The ambition and commercial acumen to grow a specialist team.

The key requirement is that you are able to lead a sub-team and develop the CTP offering, rather than simply manage an existing caseload.
