Job description

Do you have a passion for creating content that is clear, accessible and focused on user needs? Are you experienced in turning complex information into engaging digital content that helps people find the information they need quickly and easily? If so, Ofgem would love to hear from you.

Ofgem is Great Britain's energy regulator, working on behalf of consumers to ensure energy supplies are safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable. As we support the UK's transition to Net Zero, effective digital communication is critical to helping consumers, stakeholders and industry understand the work we do and the impact it has.

As a Content Designer, you will play a key role in transforming and improving content across Ofgem.gov.uk. Working within our Digital Communications team, you will collaborate with colleagues across communications, policy and stakeholder teams to create user-centred content that supports both organisational objectives and audience needs.

You'll be responsible for developing, editing and publishing high-quality digital content, supporting communications campaigns from concept through to delivery. Using data, research and user insight, you'll continually review and improve customer journeys, identify content improvements and ensure content meets accessibility and publishing standards.

We're looking for a skilled content professional with proven experience of creating accessible, user-focused online content. You will be confident interpreting complex information and translating it into clear, engaging messaging that supports users in achieving their goals. Strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to influence stakeholders through evidence-based decision making are essential.

You'll also act as an advocate for content design best practice, helping colleagues understand and apply user-centred approaches across the organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that affects millions of energy consumers across Great Britain while helping shape the future of Ofgem's digital presence.

Join us and use your content design expertise to create better digital experiences, improve accessibility and support the transition to a greener energy future.

Ofgem has a culture of inclusion that encourages, supports and celebrates the diverse voices and experiences of our colleagues. It fuels our innovation and helps ensure we can best represent the consumers and the communities we serve. Everyone is welcome - as an inclusive workplace, our employees are comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, review, write, edit and publish content that meets Ofgem needs as well as those of our users to strict deadlines using content management systems.
  • Support the timely delivery of communications campaigns, managing digital output from ideation to launch.
  • Make sure that Ofgem.gov.uk content is user-centred, aligns to business objectives and consistently meets publishing standards.
  • Use analytical skills and work with colleagues to develop and use insight, interpreting research to better understand user needs and improve content based on data and user feedback.
  • Evaluate customer journeys and make sure they are the best they can be – identifying content gaps and overlaps.
  • Provide content expertise and advice to Ofgem colleagues.
  • Increase digital understanding across the organisation by acting as an advocate for the benefits of user centred content design by default, running training and presenting to colleagues.
