£107,144 - £142,369 per annum + on-call availability supplement (3% of full time salary)

Borders General Hospital is a modern and well-equipped 284 bed DGH serving the rural Borders area in South East Scotland, approximately 36 miles from Edinburgh.
All new consultants are supported with the development of leadership and management skills for their role. There are also opportunities for professional coaching and mentoring – an established BGH consultant will be identified as a “buddy” in your first few weeks.
The Role
Acute Medicine in the BGH offers an amazing opportunity for an enthusiastic individual, interested in service redesign, delivery of education and quality improvement. The successful applicant will develop process and flow within the department. Applications are invited from suitably qualified physicians in Acute Medicine or General Internal Medicine.
All candidates must possess full GMC Registration, a licence to practice and will already be on the Specialist Register for Acute Medicine or General Internal Medicine (GIM) or within six months of receiving their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent at the time of the interview.
Alongside consultant physician colleagues you would also have a commitment to the general medical on-call rota approx 1 in 16. The post is full time 10 PAs per week but applications also welcome from candidates seeking part-time, as opportunities may be available.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop or maintain a sub-specialty interest within Borders General Hospital (one session per week).
