Job summary

Evolve Staffing Ltd is seeking a Consultant Ophthalmologist for a premier NHS hospital in Bristol. The role combines surgical leadership with outpatient management and a focus on reducing waiting times.

The ideal candidate will have FRCOphth or equivalent, Full GMC Registration, and a proven logbook in comprehensive and sub-specialty ophthalmology, with subspecialty interests such as anterior segment, medical retina, or oculoplastics.

Qualifications

• Full GMC Registration and entry on the Specialist Register for Ophthalmology (or within 6 months of expected CCT/CESR date).
• FRCOphth qualification (or globally recognised equivalent).
• Extensive, verifiable surgical logbook and proven excellence in comprehensive and sub-specialty ophthalmology.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-volume, high-quality surgical interventions, particularly complex cataract surgeries and sub-specialty procedures.
• Lead comprehensive outpatient clinics, providing expert diagnosis and management plans for complex ocular pathologies.
• Provide robust clinical leadership, mentoring Specialist Registrars (SpR), SHOs, and allied health professionals.
• Spearhead clinical audits, quality improvement projects, and adhere rigorously to Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) guidelines.
