The NHS is seeking two Consultant Histopathologists to provide diagnostic surgical pathology services. This full-time position offers a competitive salary, flexible working options, and a relocation allowance. Job summary
We are looking to fill 2 (wte) substantive Consultant Histopathologist posts, which have become vacant due to retirement. The working hours are expected to be 9AM-5PM, with some time shifting if agreed locally. The post is based at the Hemel Hempstead site. Appointees will be expected to provide diagnostic surgical pathology services for the Trust, with work distribution reflecting service needs and specialist interests. Successful candidates will be eligible for a relocation allowance of £12,000 (if required). The Trust has approved up to 1PA of SPA time per week to be worked flexibly, aligning with the Trust’s flexible working policies and recognizing the significant contributions of staff.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will participate in routine reporting of histopathology and possibly diagnostic cytology specimens, focusing on Gynae and Skin, with other samples as negotiated. Responsibilities include providing cover for MDTs and attending clinical governance meetings. There is no out-of-hours commitment.

The appointee will join a team of 12 consultants and 2 clinical fellows, contributing to teaching and supervision of trainees. The department has subspecialized reporting groups for major cancer types. There is no requirement for cervical cytology and screening histology reporting. CPD registration with the Royal College of Pathologists is expected.
