A leading NHS Trust is seeking a Substantive Consultant Cellular Pathologist to join a busy, accredited department. The role involves providing high-quality pathology services, engaging in research, and contributing to clinical education. This full-time position offers opportunities for professional development and participation in innovative pathology practices.
This is a post for a Substantive Consultant Cellular Pathologist in the Department of Cellular Pathology at Barking Havering and Redbridge NHS Trust, replacing a colleague who has retired.
The appointee will share responsibility with Consultant Cellular Pathologist colleagues for providing a comprehensive, efficient, and cost-effective service to the Trust, local General Practitioners, and other users.
Applications are invited for one full-time, permanent Consultant post in Histopathology. The department includes eleven Consultant Histopathologists, two honorary consultants, a Clinical Scientist, and a team of specialty doctors and a pathologists’ assistant.
The department is busy, UKAS accredited, with a varied workload covering almost all specialties except medical renal biopsies and pediatric/neonatal pathology. It processes samples from the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre and supports various cancer screening programmes, serving as a major Cancer Centre for Essex.
The Trust has recently improved performance, is no longer in special measures, and is committed to delivering high-quality care. It operates across two main sites and is developing closer ties with Bart’s Health, emphasizing modern trends and developments in pathology.
The post offers involvement in cardiothoracic and molecular pathology, digital pathology, and participation in research and quality improvement projects. Facilities include excellent immunohistochemistry and molecular testing capabilities.
The successful candidate must hold GMC registration and FRCPath or equivalent.
