Job summary

Practice Plus Group is seeking an experienced Consultant General Surgeon for our new Birmingham hospital. You will provide a full range of general surgery for inpatients, day patients and outpatients, with first-line cover by RMOs and minimal on-call duties shared on rotation.

This bank/flexible contract offers part-time options and flexible patterns, including late evenings and weekends as required by the unit, and collaboration with other consultants and the hospital leadership team.

Qualifications

• Qualified surgeon on the GMC specialist register.
• Experience of working in general surgery, especially laparoscopic procedures.
• Able to conduct clinical audits.
• Able to communicate well with patients and staff, both orally and in writing.
• Committed to continuing medical education and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Work patterns will be flexible and may entail an ad-hoc mix of late evenings and weekend work; part-time applications will be considered.
• Work closely with other Consultants across specialisms and the hospital's Medical Director and Leadership Team.

We’re looking for an experienced and highly skilled Consultant General Surgeon to join our dedicated team at the Practice Plus Group Hospital Birmingham. This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality elective care in a modern, brand new, purpose-built hospital.

You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering specialist care, with first-line cover provided by RMOs, the on-call responsibility is minimal and shared on a rota with colleagues.

What you’ll be doing

As our General Surgeon, you will provide a full range of surgical diagnosis, treatment and care to inpatients, day patients and outpatients who require general surgery.

We are only looking consultants wanting a bank/flexible contract, working patterns will be flexible and may entail an ad-hoc mix of late evenings and weekend work to meet the requirements of the unit. Part Time applications will also be considered.

As a key member of the centre’s team you will be working closely with our team of Consultants across a wide range of specialisms and the hospital’s Medical Director, and local Leadership Team.
