Job summary

Sulis Hospital Bath invites applications from Consultant Anaesthetists to join a growing team that supports NHS and private patient services. The post includes eight Clinical PAs in theatres and pre-operative assessment plus two SPAs weekly, with weekend on-call and cross-cover arrangements as required.

The role emphasizes patient-centred, clinically led care, research, audit and teaching, with opportunities to develop clinical leadership within the theatres, Day Surgery Unit and Inpatient Unit.

Qualifications

• Full registration with the GMC is required.
• FRCA or equivalent is preferred.
• Entry on the Specialist Register in Anaesthetics (or within 3 months of achieving CCT) is expected.
• CCT or CESR recognised for eligibility to practice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver care in a high-volume, same-day surgery setting, including arthroplasties.
• Comply with Sulis policies for patient care and documentation.
• Manage caseload across theatres and pre-operative assessment, with weekly SPAs.
• Collaborate with clinical unit managers, nurses and colleagues to meet priorities.
• Participate in pathway development, audit, teaching and potential medical leadership roles.
