Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust invites a Consultant Anaesthetist with a keen interest in Critical Care to join a 43-strong Consultant team, including 11 in critical care. The post offers leadership, teaching, and research development within a modern, consultant-led service.

The role provides consultant-led anaesthesia and ITU coverage across a broad surgical spectrum with opportunities to develop a specialist interest and contribute to service development.

Qualifications

• Essential: MBBS or equivalent; Full GMC Registration; GMC Specialist Register in Anaesthesia; FRCA or equivalent; CCT in Anaesthesia or within 6 months of interview.
• Desirable: Membership of specialist societies; Further postgraduate qualifications in anaesthesia.
• Clinical experience: anaesthetic management of a wide range of surgeries with higher training curriculum requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-led care across the 16-bed ICU and operating theatres, including elective and emergency cases.
• Participate in on-call rota, ward rounds, referrals, and admissions; contribute to governance and quality improvement.
• Support teaching, leadership, research, and service development with multidisciplinary teams.
