Job summary

NHS Highland seeks a Consultant in Anaesthetics (7PAs) for Belford Hospital, Fort William. The post offers a substantial salary (£115,331 - £153,247 per annum pro rata) and a chance to contribute to a developing inpatient unit in a scenic, outdoor-focused area.

The role requires broad anaesthetic expertise, excellent communication, and flexible, team-based working. Teaching and collaboration with specialists, nurses, and students are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Registered with GMC and on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of achieving CCT in Anaesthesia.
• Ability to work flexibly as part of an integrated team.
• Commitment to teaching and supporting nurses, AHPs, and students.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level anaesthesia care with broad general anaesthetic experience.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and smooth day-to-day running of Belford Hospital.
• Support teaching and supervision of junior doctors, nursing staff, and students.
